The Attire

Indian weddings can be confusing, especially for first-timers! There's plenty of time in between the events to change, but if you're not going home or upstairs in between, changing is definitely not required. The groom thinks we should point out that Indian weddings may be more conservative, but the bride says, "you do you." We hope the following helps; please reach out to us or our families (or any Indian wedding pro) if you need more guidance!

the wedding

For the morning events and ceremony, we suggest cocktail attire. This means cocktail dresses, suits, etc. - what you'd wear to a formal event.

the reception

For the reception, we're going black tie. This means a floor-length gown / tuxedo, evening cocktail dress / dark suit, etc. - what you'd wear to a black-tie event.

No red or white, please and thank you

And, per cultural norms, we suggest no red or white for the ladies -- you wouldn't wear an all white dress to a church wedding, right?!
